The 'Philippus Corts Foundation' is a Dutch foundation known outside the Netherlands as 'The Corts Foundation'.

The foundation started in 2003 with the legacy capital of Kees Corts. His interest in the former Dutch East Indies and Indonesian history led to the support of many interesting projects in the past years.

The main goal of the foundation is to support projects and initiatives concerning the archives of the Dutch East India Company in the 17th and 18th century, and the history of World War II, especially the Japanese occupation of Indonesia and the Dutch-Indonesian war (1945-1949).

Two major projects have been realized. These multi-year projects concerned the digital preservation of archives and the translation of Japanese official publications in English. The DASA project, carried out between 2011 and 2018 in collaboration with the National Archives of Indonesia (ANRI), focused at digitally preserving and providing access on the Internet of a selection of the Dutch East India Company archives. The Senshi Sosho project, in which official Japanese publications concerning the Japanese attack on and subsequent occupation of Indonesia during WWII are being translated to be eventually published in English.

In 2015 we presented Senshi Sōsho volume 3 about: 'The invasion of the Dutch East Indies'. Followed in 2018 with the publication of Senshi Sōsho volume 26: 'The Operations of the Navy and the Bay of Bengal', which deals among others with the Battle of the Java sea.

At the end of 2020 we strive to conclude this trilogy about the Japanese Invasion of the former Dutch East Indies with the publication of relevant parts of Senshi Sōsho volume 34 “Army Air Drive to the Southern Pacific Area” and Senshi Sōsho volume 5 “Operations in Burma”.
